ATPとプロテクトランキング取得について最後の詰めの交渉を行っていると錦織選手の公式にありましたが、2日に発表されました。

ルール通りなら交渉の必要ありませんが、交渉していると言うことは、ルールの文面からはわたしが疑問に思っていたようなことの折衝・確認であろうと想像します。実際平均を取る13週の起点が何時なのか？　13で割るという平均にはほとんど必ず小数点以下が生じるがその処理は？　を詰めていたのだろうと想像します。

わたしが先に発表した順位は「3月23日から6月15日付けまでの平均と言うことですか、107.55ほどになり、108位かな。」でした。3月23日はIndian Wellsの大会が含まれたランキング発表の日です。しかし、錦織選手は初戦のみですから、2週間大会のこの起点では1週間損しますし、小数点以下切り上げで算出しました。それは、これよりは悪くなるはずがないとしていました。多分、詰めの交渉の結果、大会単位ではなく、本人が対戦しなくなった週が起算になったようで、発表がない3月16日のランキングからの平均になったようです。この場合、平均が丁度割り切れて106位になります。ランクの一つ二つは大きい問題です。有利に処理されて嬉しいですね。

しかし、106位はまだまだ微妙な順位です。でも、年末400番台前後に、全豪参戦時には600番以下？になるとき、106位で参戦できるのは大きいです。

ことしのグランドスラムの最終ダイレクトインは、

全豪　104
全仏　106
全英　108
全米　108

となっています。来年、年初からの復帰とすると、全米も39週以内に入ります。106位は辞退者の数によってダイレクトインできるかどうか非常に微妙なところです。どんなに悪くても予選のシードは得られます。

Masters 1000へはダイレクトインの可能性はありません。予選インも96ドローのサイズの大きい大会のとき位です。

500大会もダイレクトインの可能性はありません。予選インは可能性が少しあるでしょうが、そう多くはありません。

250大会でダイレクトインは大会によっては少し可能性が出てきます。予選インはできるでしょう。けれど、今年参戦した全豪の二つの予備戦には予選も全く可能性がないでしょう。参戦はWCを得られるかどうかに関わってくるでしょう。

ですから、年初から3月のアメリカシリーズまででいかにWCとプロテクトを生かすかの使い分けとか、下位大会にプロテクトを使わずに回ってポイントゲットするか、などなどプロジェクト４５の正念場であると思います。

何れにしてもファンは「プロ転向時よりずっと低いランキングになること、つまり参戦条件が極端に悪くなるので参戦機会が少なくなり、ランキングを回復するのは一筋縄ではいかないこと」を知っておきたいものです。でも、着実に回復していくであろうと期待し、応援しましょう。

    ATPに錦織圭選手のプロテクトランキングを申請した結果、106位という順位が認められました。このランキングは、2009年末または2010年にトーナメント復帰する際に適応されることになります。

    錦織選手の腕は完治する方向に向かっており、2010年のシーズンは完璧な状態でプレーできることでしょう。ラケットを持ったトレーニングをスタートする許可がドクターから出次第、IMGニック･ボルテリ・テニスアカデミーで本格的なトレーニングを開始します。

  • プロテクトを使えるのは復帰後39週内の8大会です。
    WC等で参戦した場合はこの8大会に数えられません。
    グランドスラムに四つ割り当てると残り四つしかありません。どのように使うか興味のあるところです。
    7月中旬まで（全米のエントリー期限）にプロテクトを使わないですむまでポイントを取得できたら最高です。でも、３つのグランドスラムで皆本戦3回勝ちしてやっと達成できるぐらいですから、非常に厳しいです。間の大会でこつこつ貯めることも必要です。ですから、2010年はランキング回復と言うよりも、そのための踏み台のポイントを取得することが大切だと思います。とわいえ、どのような活躍を見せてくれるか楽しみなのです。

    年間通して試合に出続けないと、ランキングが維持できない。
    上位になればなるほど試合数も断然多くなる。

    当然の事なのですが、一人の選手（圭君）を追っかけてその厳しさを実感してます。

    今まではプロテクトランキングという言葉は知ってても、知識はありませんでしたが、やっとはっきり理解できました（遅すぎ！）。

    ラケットを握れるようになってもすぐに復活とはいかないでしょうが、来年、8大会どう使うか気長に楽しみにしておきます。

  • もう一つ言い忘れていたことがあります。
    プロテクトランキングは現在のランキングの次に位置します。つまり現在106位の人がエントリーしていたら、その次に位置されます。つまり、106位と言うよりも107位の前という理解が妥当です。

  • ATPとWTAは全く別の組織ですし、WTAのことは全く知りませんので何とも申し上げられません。
    ATPではプロテクトランキングの使用は8大会使用するまでか、39週までの早い方で終了と言うことになっています。使用する大会のグレードには言及されていません。実際に今年のグランドスラムで何回も使用していた人もいます。
